Bob Chilcott Singing Day:  Sat 15 October 2022

.It was something of a special day for the South Somerset Choral Society to have Bob Chilcott come and lead a ‘singing day’ at St Peter & St Paul’s church, South Petherton last month. About 100 singers from several local choirs (and none) tackled Bob’s recent work “Gloria” and his brand new (and very appropriate for October) “The Song of Harvest”.

Bob’s works are tuneful and lyrical, easy on the ear though still quite challenging for the singers. But a super stab they made of it in the informal concert at the end of the day. The church itself – its inspiring interior and its excellent acoustics - certainly made a contribution to the success of the day too.
